About Michael Fraas PhD,

Dr. Michael Fraas is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and a recognized expert in cognitive rehabilitation, bringing over 27 years of experience across clinical practice, academia, and research. His work is grounded in a deep commitment to advancing the field of cognitive health and improving the lives of those navigating cognitive challenges.
Dr. Fraas’s career has been shaped by a passion for integrating evidence-based practice with individualized care. His contributions include participation in high-impact research initiatives such as several systematic reviews on the effectiveness of cognitive rehabilitation and co-authoring the Cognitive Rehabilitation Manual and Textbook published by the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM). Dr. Fraas also serves as a faculty member of the ACRM Cognitive Rehabilitation Manual Workshop, which provides training nationally and internationally to clinicians so they may effectively provide evidence-based care to their patients.
His academic journey began at the esteemed University of Cincinnati, where he earned his M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology in 1997 and his Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2003. It was there that he developed a client-centered approach to cognitive intervention—one that values the unique needs and experiences of each individual.
Throughout his career, Dr. Fraas has sought to bridge the gap between academic insight and real-world application. Through collaborative research, clinical innovation, and a dedication to lifelong learning, he continues to refine the tools and strategies that empower clients to reclaim clarity, confidence, and independence in their daily lives.
Today, through Brain–Speak, Dr. Fraas remains committed to providing compassionate, science-driven care—guiding each client with expertise, empathy, and unwavering dedication to their cognitive well-being.

Every project I undertake is driven by a commitment to advancing cognitive rehabilitation and improving outcomes for individuals facing cognitive challenges. Through ongoing research and collaborative initiatives, my work focuses on translating clinical expertise into actionable, evidence-based strategies that support both clients and professionals.
A core aspect of this mission involves enhancing clinical knowledge through the development and dissemination of evidence-based guidelines for providing cognitive rehabilitation. Whether authoring clinical resources, leading educational workshops, or providing effective treatments, each endeavor is dedicated to equipping clinicians with the necessary tools to enhance their practice and offering individuals on their rehabilitation journey renewed hope and meaningful progress.
